1 Announcements from the Chair (Andrea Winthrop) a) Administration and Physician Leadership workshop The workshop will take place at Children’s
b) Dr. Winthrop will be attending the Milwaukee Medical Society EMS Directors meeting Nov 14. Dr. Winthrop will be discussing the Wisconsin Trauma System and requirements for Level III and IV hospitals. c) Vice Chair Election Process The
election for the SERTAC Vice Chair will be held electronically. Robert will
send out a blog on each candidate and a ballot. Vice Chair ballots will be
distributed by email to active members. The deadline for voting will be on d) ATLS Course The first ATLS course scheduled for December 7/8 filled immediately. The Medical Oversight subcommittee will evaluate the prioritization of the next 16 sponsored positions. Since each facilities designation was in 2005, each facility has 3 years to comply with requirements, including current ATLS certification. Changes in requirements based on the new Green book will be evaluated by the State e) ATCN Course ACTN for nurses (different from TNCC) has hands-on sections similar to the ATLS lab. The course has a $350 fee, not a budget item for SERTAC. Interested members can still register for the course with the understanding that they will have to self pay. f) CALS & RDTT Courses Level 4
facilities may take CALS or RTTDC in place of the ATLS requirement. A waiver
letter must be addressed to Dan Williams and sent to Marianne Peck to be
considered for the ATLS waiver. Executive
Council Meeting Report – by
Andrea Winthrop M.D. a) Bylaws The revisions to bylaws will be: 1-corrected organizational chart 2-Trauma Coordinator Subcommittee description and participation will be added. 3-“active member” requirements added as section F only active members have voting privileges must attend 50% of RTAC meetings per calendar year and must also be a member of a subcommittee. Executive officers
must meet requirements of active membership as well. b) Green Book – The SERTAC
will purchase a new edition of the Green book for every active facility and c) SERTAC The SERTAC mission statement has been
revised and approved. Announcements from RTAC Coordinator-

proposed starting a regional b) PEPP
Correction The PEPP
application has a date error; the application is to be signed by Nov 30 by
the PEPP – Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals. BLS or first responders attend the first course. BLS 1 day $160, ALS $320 covers course, food, mileage. c) Topic Course Each RTAC will pay
$500 in order to have a Topic course for the entire state. There are
currently 113 hospitals in the state of d)Triage Tuesdays Triage Tags and
Triage Tuesday – STAC Updates from
Marianne Peck a) Marianne has
announced that the Registry is now live. The registry has received over 2000 records, preliminary reports may be ready by November, examples will be included in the STAC minutes b) Trauma website has links to site review documents; the pre-review questionnaire will ask for 1 year of registry data, sites in 2007 will not have a complete year c) The PI template has been drafted, STAC approval due in December helps define some PI filters and PI development before performing case reviews examples: EMS run sheet completeness, EMS scene time, EMS airway management, Triage & Transport guidelines, ED time to transfer OR team & Surgeon response requirements: Marianne sent results to trauma coordinators via email to be reviewed.

Coordinator Meeting Updates – by Cinda Werner Trauma
coordinators workshop a) The Trauma Coordinators will continue to work through questions and plan to review the PRQ. The Trauma Coordinators will also review the PI indicators as examples. b) St. Josephs
Regional Medical Center in c) Cinda will also
send any questions for the Administration Workshop to Robert.
Open discussion on updates: a) Green book has revised triage & transport guidelines, STAC will review, do not expect changes for at least 1 year. There is discussion
on ability to request a helicopter. The purpose of Triage Tuesday is for b) PI process The site reviews will focus on the PI process in place at a hospital, not individual points. Minimum PI reviews will include trauma deaths, M and M, medical nursing chart audit. The site review process will be used to identify areas for improvement, similar to ACS consultation visit with recommendations. Organizations should use existing PI processes and audit filters eg wound care, pain score. Education Subcommittee Report – Todd Van Langen A letter
will be sent to PI Subcommittee – Dr. Steve Andrews The Fox Valley RTAC met regarding registry requirements and training. Further information will be obtained from the Fox Valley RTAC re possible joint training. The registry is down at times. With respect to PI case reviews, the PI committee may need their own meeting time, similar to the trauma coordinators to do PI system and case reviews Medical Oversight Subcommittee – Dr. Andrea Winthrop a) ATLS The first sponsored class filled immediately, 1 facility took 6 positions. The next class will have a tiered application process. The 3 facilities being reviewed first will be given 1 space each, then facilities not in the first class will be given 1 space each and then open applications, which will require a check as deposit. b)Question
