Announcements
from the chair – by a) Secretary Position Dr. Winthrop reports
Secretary Position is available to any committee member. Secretary Position responsible
for recording and transcribing minutes for Executive Council and SERTAC
Meetings. b) Trauma Registry Workshops.
Each
Hospital must send their registrar, and may have more than 1 person such as
Coordinator or medical records person involved. The application is due on April 15th
to Marianne Peck and the application is available on the SERTAC website. c) Meeting Attendance.
Updating membership attendance and contact info. The update is needed
to verify organizations not being represented and have up to date contact
info so information is getting out to members. d) Trauma Coordinator Workshop Cinda
Werner is willing to sponsor a Trauma Coordinator Workshop as part of
training for Registrars / Coordinators. More than one day may be needed. e) Site Review Team If
any members are interested in becoming a site reviewer, contact Marianne Peck
at peckme@dafs.state.wi.us to
inquire about the application process, fees and credential requirements.

State of g) Executive Council Meeting Report
- Discussed Secretary Position -
Vice Chair position, need to replace Dr. Nirula - Bylaws reviewed and
revised, Bylaws will be on members section of website.
- Registry and PI subcommittees are currently combined, may be
separate when Registry is activated. - Budget now
accurate and there are funds to be used, looking for training opportunities:
coding, registry, ATLS, PHTLS, etc.
- WEEPP extension letter drafted, extension to May 30th due
to change in RTAC Coordinator. 2
Announcements
from RTAC Coordinator – by
a) SERTAC Website
- An option for
site security is to have passwords assigned by county, which will make for
easier changes in passwords. -
The links portion of the website will be upgraded to be more user friendly
and county specific. - Some
documents (word, excel, ppt.) will be converted to adobe, so documents will
be available for search engines on internet.
- Information such as booklets / handout information will be posted on
website. By posting info on website members can access documents and member’s
e-mail storage space will not become as full.
-Information can be added regularly for current events or training.
– Members info will only be on member’s site and will be password
protected. b) Triage Tags and WEEPP
The State is sending enough tags so each service vehicle carries 150
tags. The distribution plan is currently being discussed, Paramedic Base
offered to be a staging point or tags can be sent out by county through
Emergency Medical Directors. Currently quarterly evaluations on Triage Tags are
expected to start in October. Patients can refuse to participate; tags will
be kept on clip boards instead of on Patient. A script is available in the
Triage Tuesday packet, each site or service is allowed to offer own script to
Patient. Current goal is to have Triage Tuesday twice a month, plan to keep
tags for evaluations, and to have services familiar with tags.
c)
Table Top Exercise
The Table Top Exercises will begin on 4/15 and will be ending
8/31. There must be a minimum of three regions working together that
typically do not interact. The SERTAC Committee will need to determine
how many exercises will be required. There is a reimbursement of $1500
per exercise funded by the State; SERTAC has an extension until May
1st to submit schedule and expense
report. The Education Committee is to review and get info on
what resources will be needed to conduct Table Top Exercise. If Committee
members are interested, there is a need for minute-takers and facilitators
for Exercises. Minute-takers and facilitators will be paid $200 for
the two hour exercise, if interested contact RTAC Coordinator. d) Trauma Personnel Description for Level 3
and 4 Job descriptions and definitions are
difficult to find. Purpose of information is to assist Committee Members in
receiving a specific title with Level III Hospitals
|
Dr. Martens offered to take minutes for today’s
meeting. Trauma Registry training June 20 and 21, 2006. More info to follow. Committee Members - Please review
your C. Werner- Please keep members informed on development of workshop. R.Ramerez – Provide web designer with a revised SERTAC Bylaws to have loaded to
the website. B. Rambo – forward a copy of the budget to Robert to post on the website. R.

6. Report from PI/Registry Sub-Committee |
1. ATS Course- ATS Course for Registrar / Coordinator will cost about $325 and will not be available until 2007, must use ATS instructors. 2. Trauma
Coordinator Workshop- Cinda Werner can sponsor a one day workshop to help
program development with a possible start date in May. Beginning development
of a physician workshop for the same day. |

7. Report for Education Sub-Committee |
1. PHTLS Course - SERTAC will be sponsoring 24 students to attend the upcoming PHTLS course on April 22 & 23, 2006. Only serious applicants should submit an application, please have an alternative person available to fill in at the last minute. Submit applications to Lisa Heinz (lheinz@mrmcffl.org or 414/805-6432) and list a contact person. 2. Table
Top Exercise – There will be a possibility of three Table Top Exercises simultaneously at |
T.Van Langen and R. Ramerez- Please get estimate of costs for all three table top
exercises. |

8. Report from the Medical Oversight Sub-Committee |
1. ATLS Course- Offer ATLS courses to assist physicians in maintaining educational requirement. The tuition will be $500 and less for auditing RN / PA. The minimum is 16 students to conduct course, goal will be to get 24 students for course. The areas targeted will be the North and South areas of the SERTAC, proposal for Sept. / Oct. and second course in Feb. There will be a focus on level III & IV Hospitals, with extra info on stabilization and transfer. 2.

R Ramerez will get info on cost of conducting a course. Guidelines from FMLH
and CHW will be posted on the SERTAC website. |
