6.   Outstanding Items -

Report by Amy McCray

     Transports Outside District

Amy was asked to find out from other RTAC’s how they are addressing.  When the transporting agency is restricted to their district boundaries, they are requesting intercepts and/or mutual aid stand-by at their stations.

     Registry Activities

Amy was requested to find out what other RTAC’s are doing with the Trauma registry.  Per Marianne Peck, there is no action necessary by the RTAC’s at this time.  The Data Elements are being revised and will be available in the near future.

     Future Action Items

     1.  Data Elements - timeline for finalization

     2.  Retrieval of registry data  - process

Amy will report back at the next meeting regarding both issues.

7.   New Items

A.     Waukesha Co. Drill - Thurs. May 26

Please respond to questions via the EMSystem (surge capacities).

B. From HRSA meeting:  John Bruce, Wis. Healthcare Safety Council:

They are urging that all hospitals go to a common code system.  In developmental stages.  Please pass along comments to John Bruce (john.bruce@aurora.org).

8.   Committee Reports

A.     Trauma Registry

Reported by Dan Burns.

   1.   Question:  Will the state prepare a paper template for Level III’s and Level IV’s to submit data, since they are not required to submit data electronically.

   2.   Other questions are being formulated and will present at next meeting.

B. Performance Improvement

Reported by Linda Ptack.

Have decided to amend goals set in previous month.  Would like to simplify and look at data that currently exists, namely the minimum state triage guidelines and do they work and are they being followed.

   1.  Patients being transported to Level I or Level II:  Is that being done?  Information probably not avail.

   2.   Would like to extract data from Trauma Registries already in existence at those centers.  Could use that data as baseline for future evaluations.  Can look at patients being transferred to a Level I trauma center, average transfer times, etc.  Would like to look at those data elements.

B. Education

Reported by Todd VanLangen.

   1.  WEEPP (Wis. EMS Emergency Preparedness Plan) training module to be rolled out at STAC meeting June 1.  This is a two hour training followed by a tabletop triage exercise.

   2.  Train-the-Trainers:  Plan on training in Washington and Sheboygan counties first.  Followed by remainding counties.

   3.  Deadline has been moved to Aug. 31, 2006.  No longer required to have training completed in 33% increments; has been changed to 100% by Aug. 2006.

Original deadline was to have 33% of services trained by Aug.. 2005, another 33% by Aug. 2006 and final 33% by Aug. 2007.

A.     Medical Oversight

Reported by: Ron Pirallo.

   1.  Need to identify Medical Directors.

   2.  Need to know which providers have signed off on Triage and Transport guidelines.

   3.  In-hospital trauma care guidelines:  Ron has asked reps from Froedtert and Children’s if they would share the information and possibly put on our website.

4..FAQ:  Would like to include on our website.  A good website to look at is the NorthCentral’s:  <http://www.ncrtac-wi.org>

   5.  Involvement of trauma physicians involved. Would like planners of trauma physician meetings to include information regarding the RTAC.

   6.  Transport to Illinois Trauma centers.  Ill. is not under ACS guidelines - have their own trauma system.  They would not be certified as ACS level I or II.  Small population of patients but it may be a larger issue in the event of a large incident or in the western locations.
